At the centre of Floodgate are two people who share the same space but seem unable to reach one another.
I wanted their relationship to be told through the architecture rather than through a specific action. Sometimes they stand close together, sometimes at opposite ends of the room, and sometimes a wall or column almost completely removes one from the other's view.
Around them sits a structure designed to separate one world from another.
For me, Floodgate became a story about two kinds of pressure. The physical pressure held outside the space, and the unspoken pressure growing between the people inside it.
